Planéte Crocodiles

Planéte Crocodiles is a great place to visit; they have over 200 reptiles all kept in a large dome structure; perfect for a wet-weather day trip.  Along with the crocodiles they have chameleons, tortoises and snakes.  An amazing feature of the attraction is the suspended net, you can walk up to the top of the dome and look down 10 metres in to the crocodile enclosures!

Chateau Rochefoucauld

The Château at Rochefoucauld is a stunning classic French castle.  Visitors are able to wander around this historic site which was built in 1628.  Tours are also organised on a regular basis and there is even a dressing up room with period costumes.    The wine cellars, found at the bottom of a beautiful staircase; definitely worth a visit.

Drive time 60 minutes

One of France’s most popular theme parks, Futuroscope is the ideal place to relax in, with 60 hectares of tranquil green countryside and 25 original experiences you won’t find anywhere else: films in giant format, thrill-filled attractions, 3D rides with 4D effects, games, live shows, open-air activities, and more.

Vallée de Singes

Drive time 40 minutes

Vallée de Singes is one of our favourite attractions in the region.  With conservation in mind, the park was the first to allow its’ primates to roam freely.  You are literally surrounded by many of the species although the chimpanzes and gorillas are kept a safe distance away from visitors. The entire area has been constructed to reflect the animals’ natural habitat.  Peacocks also roam around and often put on quite a show!

Drive time 40 minutes

Oradour-sur-Glane is a very special place. A forty-minute drive from VéloGîtes and you will arrive at Oradour. The village is steeped in somber history as on the 10th June 1944, the Nazis attacked the defenseless village and murdered 642 innocent men, women and children. The ruins of the village have been preserved in their original state as a memorial of the atrocities that took place.
